Remove Solid Color Background
Remove a solid or near-solid background and export a transparent PNG. Color sampling runs in your browser.

Use cases and practical choices
Brand and web teams can clean solid-background logos and icons, retail users can try simple evenly lit product images, and office users can prepare transparent slide assets. The tool does not identify people automatically and should not be presented as one-click removal for complex scene photos.
Remove a white or solid-color background
This tool removes pixels whose color is close to the sampled background. It works best for a logo, icon or product image against a plain backdrop. Choose automatic corner sampling or click a background color, then adjust tolerance and save a transparent PNG. It does not use AI or automatically identify a subject.
- Crop & compress — crop the image before removing its background
- Image to ICO — turn the transparent result into a favicon
Export a transparent PNG
- Auto-sample corner colors or click to pick a background
- Adjust tolerance for similar colors
- Export a transparent PNG locally
How to remove an image background
- Choose a picture with a clear color difference between subject and background, such as a white-background logo. Busy scenes, fine hair and transparent glass are poor candidates for color-based removal.
- Try automatic sampling first; it references the corner colors. If the corners contain the subject, switch to manual sampling and click the background area in the preview.
- Increase tolerance gradually while inspecting residual background and subject edges. Do not erase similarly colored subject areas merely to eliminate every background pixel.
- Inspect the checkerboard preview and download transparent PNG. Test it on the intended light or dark background; changing the output to JPG will not preserve transparency.
Remove background FAQ
Why does this suit a plain logo better than a complex portrait?
Removal is based on color similarity, not semantic subject detection. A solid background with a contrasting logo is easier to separate; hair, clothing and a busy background often share colors. Increasing tolerance cannot make the algorithm understand which pixels belong to a person.
How should I sample a background when automatic mode fails?
Automatic mode references the four corner colors. A subject, shadow or decoration in the corners can skew the sample. Switch to manual mode, click a representative background region in the preview and adjust tolerance gradually. A single sample may still be insufficient for gradients or multicolored textures.
Why is part of the subject missing or a pale fringe left behind?
High tolerance can erase subject colors similar to the background, while low tolerance leaves near-background pixels. Lower tolerance, inspect the subject and choose a better sample point. This method cannot guarantee natural hair, reflections or semi-transparent edges; keep the original for finer editing when needed.
Why does the downloaded result still appear white?
Some viewers display transparency on a white surface. Place the PNG on a darker background to distinguish transparent areas from actual white pixels. JPG cannot preserve transparency. Also remember that white portions of the subject should not be removed merely because the background is white.
